Victoria Beckham

Alexander May Studio designed and delivered the complete build-out of Victoria Beckham's first New York store at 150 Mercer Street in SoHo, translating the house's precise visual language into an intimate retail environment. Bringing together ready-to-wear, fragrance and beauty, the project was conceived as a complete expression of the brand, balancing clarity and restraint with warmth, tactility and a distinctly New York character.

Developed in partnership with Ole Lund and LNP, the space retains the building's original ceiling and architectural character while introducing a disciplined palette of mineral tones, burgundy and pale marble, dark timber, lacquer and velvet. Custom brass clothing rails sit alongside sculptural furniture by Pierre Augustin Rose, textiles by Kvadrat, velvet drapery by The Shade Store and a considered palette of Farrow & Ball colours.

May approached the store as a sequence of carefully composed spaces rather than a conventional retail floor. Through controlled light, proportion, material contrast and object placement, fashion, fragrance, beauty, art and design are brought together within one coherent environment. A 1930s Fontana Arte lantern designed by Gio Ponti marks the entrance and establishes a distinctive sense of arrival.
